22 February 2007 Study: Three-quarters of women bring men to car purchases

Some 75 per cent of women will bring a man with them when they buy their next car in order to get a better deal, new findings have revealed.

Nearly half (40 per cent) of female drivers felt this was necessary as gender had an effect on automobile sales, the Capital One survey of 800 car buyers found.

However, female car insurance customers may be interested to know that Capital One's director of financial services Diana Don Colby has commented to GirlsCarGuide that women should do their homework when going to buy a vehicle rather than look for help from a man.

"Instead of relying on male companions for support, women should instead turn to the host of educational resources available for free - both online and off-line," she told to the organisation.

Additionally, a recent study from Green Flag has found that female drivers are half as likely to drive without car insurance as men.
