09 February 2007 Police go online to answer car crime queries

Those seeking answers about car crime can now go online and have their queries directly answered by a police officer.

Chief Constable Colin Port of the Avon and Somerset Police will go online on February 9th for a live chat, during which he will both answer questions and listen to the views of worried car owners.

The measure is part of the Relentless on Vehicle Crime Campaign, which has seen a dedicated squad of policemen concentrate on tackling car crime.

Chief Constable Colin Port said; "This is a great opportunity, not just for the public to directly speak to the police, one-on-one, but also for me to speak to the public, to find out what their concerns are and what they want from their police force."

There have been over 150 arrests since the Relentless on Vehicle Crime Campaign started, many of which have been of prolific car criminals, added Chief Constable Port.
