07 February 2007 Met: Heavy snowfall may cause transport difficulties
The Met Office has forecast heavy snow to fall in the UK on Thursday, a prediction which may prove useful for car insurance customers.Southern Wales, the Midlands and central and southern England could be affected by the conditions, particularly on Thursday - although the group has warned showers could occur today.
Some 15 cm of snow could hit the Midlands, along with five cm in the south of England, something which may cause a number of drivers to remain cautious on the roads or abandon their journeys altogether.
Additionally, public transport could potentially be affected - a blow to organisations and the country's infrastructure, according to the body.
"It is important during these potentially severe weather events to check the latest forecast. The details can often be very important and can change at short notice," a statement read.
Last month, the Highways Agency released a series of warnings intended to keep the drivers of high-sided vehicles safe in the face of strong winds across the UK.
