26 January 2007 Green men sighted in Wales
Workers in the Welsh building industry count being environmentally friendly as their number one concern, according to a survey by the timber company Premier Forest Products. The news could mean the traditional white van man will go green - a move which could see builders save money if their van insurance company offers discounted rates for eco-conscious customers.
Some 80 per cent of those surveyed said they would like to be more conscientious in 2007, the Newport-based organisation reports.
And, of the 100 Welsh builders polled, 86 per cent said they already recycle at home, 83 per cent intend to recycle more and 96 per cent showed an interest in using sustainable building materials.
In further developments to make Wales greener, Gwynedd Council and Waste Awareness Wales have teamed up to urge lovers to send environmentally friendly Valentine's e-cards, rather than the traditional cardboard alternative.
