23 January 2007 Motorists 'feel frozen out by weather'
Motorists 'feel frozen out by weather'The recent icy weather may stop car insurance customers from getting behind the wheel - at least temporarily, according to a new survey.
Some 32 per cent of motorists feel most at risk when driving on ice, a study by car care company Comma has revealed, reports Easier.
It appears that drivers fear a lack of control most - 29 per cent said poor visibility was a major hazard for them, with 18 per cent telling the business they didn't like driving in snow.
Thunder and lightning (seven per cent), sleet (five per cent) and rain (five per cent) also polled, but the recent high winds would put off two per cent.
The body has also offered car insurance customers tips for safer driving, including careful route-planning and driving more slowly to maintain control.
Severe weather conditions last week caused the Highways Agency to issue numerous warnings to motorists.
High-sided vehicles, it suggested, should stay off the road in harsh winds.
