18 January 2007 Motorway 'missiles' back on agenda
A van driver had his wing mirror smashed after a brick was thrown from a footbridge above the M621, causing the West Yorkshire Police to re-visit a previous campaign.Similar incidents have also been reported to the City and Holbeck division and could lead to a higher number of van insurance claims in and around the area.
Although police clamped down on such occurrences last September, it now appears that now this "very serious problem" needs to be addressed.
"It doesn't take a great deal of imagination to realise what could happen if a brick thrown from motorway bridge was to hit the driver of a vehicle travelling at 70 mph," said crime reduction officer PC John Cockcroft.
In other car insurance news, drivers may be getting lazy when it comes to renewing their policies, according to Insurancewide.com.
"Check whether you could get a better deal the one than your existing policy offers,” James Harrison, chief executive of the company said.
