16 January 2007 Top tips for van insurance claimants revealed
Van insurance customers could benefit from tips released by one insurer.Budget Van Insurance havs offered drivers advice on the actions to take in the event of an accident, to ensure claims are processed smoothly.
Customers should initially move to safety, away from a busy road and call the emergency services if there are any injuries or the road is blocked, the organisation claims.
Gathering details of the accident is important, according to the van insurance provider, so noting the names and contact details of everybody involved could be helpful.
Keeping a disposable camera in the van can also enable drivers to take photographs of the scene.
Managing director of Budget Van Insurance, Matthew Gledhill, urged drivers to take heed of the advice and stay safe on the roads.
"Having these details can make all the difference in terms of how swiftly your van insurance claim is handled," he said.
Research from Royal & SunAlliance claims that van drivers are responsible for 60 per cent of the accidents they are involved in during 2006.
