16 November 2006 Motorpoint backs RoadSafe
The UK's largest car supermarket group, Motorpoint, has become the first retail motor group in the UK to become a supporter of road safety organisation, RoadSafe, according to automotive data group Newcarinfo.
Motorpoint hopes to promote and extend the RoadSafe objectives and road safety messages to its 30,000 customers by developing campaigns, for instance, regarding the importance of active safety systems in vehicles and their ability to prevent road accidents.
RoadSafe director, Adrian Walsh, said that the campaign group was "delighted" to be backed by Motorpoint, particularly as it would provide "an important opportunity to be working, for the first time, with a retail operation to promote road safety messages at the point of sale directly to drivers."
Motorpoint managing director David Shelton said: "We recognise and accept that we do have a responsibility in terms of road safety and working with RoadSafe, we believe, represents a major step forward on behalf of the retail trade to promote safer driving."
Safer driving is being highlighted across the industry at the moment as the wintry weeks ahead will provide treacherous road conditions. Motorists are advised to make sure they have up to date car insurance cover in case they suffer an accident.
