09 November 2006 British 1,000bhp supercar announced

British manufacturer Bristol Cars has announced the exciting new Fighter T, a supercar which will possess 1,000 brake horse power (bhp) and have the ability to achieve 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds.

Boasting a twin turbocharged and inter-cooled eight litre V10 engine, the car has a top speed of 270mph, although it has been electronically limited to a more sedate 225mph.

The performance of the Fighter promises to be impressive. The gearbox has six gears, which allows the supercar to be able to reach 60mph in first gear and the standard Fighter produces an impressive 525lb.ft of torque at 3500rpm, increasing to 900lb.ft for the Fighter T.

Speed enthusiasts are bound to adore this car, but they'll be lucky to get hold of one as only 20 Fighters will be made each year.

Potential owners should also be aware that they will need to be extremely rich to afford the high-speed monster, as each one will cost around £351,000 and the car insurance premium is likely to be astronomical.
