12 October 2006 A foaming nuisance
Police in Staffordshire have launched a full-scale operation to find a gang that has left locals fuming. The gang has caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to residents' cars by launching a foam attack in the Burntwood area, reports website icCannock.co.uk.
Residents woke on September 30th of this year to find an unspecified foam had been sprayed all over their cars.
It is not known what the foam contained but whatever it was it damaged paintwork on the vehicles and owners are forced to pay over £1,000 to repair the damage or claim on their car insurance.
"At this stage, it is unclear why the offenders targeted vehicles in this particular street," said a spokesman for Chasetown Police division.
"It may have just been opportunistic. But what may have been seen as a bit of fun has caused repercussions for the vehicle owner who may now be without a vehicle while it is repaired and have to foot a bill running into hundreds of pounds," he added.
