15 August 2006 Young drivers to receive extra tuition
A new scheme is aiming to provide young drivers in Wales with additional driving skills to reduce the chance of them being involved in a serious car accident.Pass Plus Cymru courses are available to anyone over the age of 17 and will involve a series of interactive sessions relating to driving theory as well as practical car-based classes.
Statistics have revealed that drivers between the ages of 16 and 25 comprised 45 per cent of the total deaths on Welsh roads last year.
One young driver who has taken out £4,000 worth of car insurance on his new vehicle has supported the new scheme after crashing his parents' car soon after passing his driving test.
Tom Martin, a 17-year-old from Cardiff lauds the £40 scheme and told the BBC that young drivers should "calm down…and stick to the speed limits".
