10 August 2006 Women more likely to strike up a tune
It is often suggested that women make the best drivers who claim less than men on their car insurance policy. But they are also more likely to sing a song while motoring too.According to the latest research from car company Pontiac into the habits of drivers in Canada, 66 per cent of drivers sing when behind the wheel.
As many as 77 per cent of women let their vocals ring out when driving their cars, compared with just 58 per cent of men who do the same.
"Anyone who drives can relate to the feelings of exhilaration and happiness that come with belting out the lyrics of a great summer anthem behind the wheel," said Amrit Mehta, Pontiac brand manager, General Motors of Canada.
The Pontiac G5 Rhythm of the Road Poll also revealed that Bryan Adams' hit Summer of '69 was the favourite song to sing.
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen was the runner-up, while songs by The Beatles and the Rolling Stones also featured in the top seven.
