Your star sign may have an impact on the number of claims you make on your car insurance, according to the latest research.

Arians are the most likely to be involved in an incident on the road, picking up the most claims and convictions.

The research, which was carried out by price comparison website moneysupermarket.com, found that people born under the sign of the ram made nine per cent more claims to insurance providers than average.

The star sign is synonymous with being impatient and slightly hot-headed, which is backed up by the discovery that Arians tend to have six per cent more convictions than the majority of motorists.

At the other end of the scale Sagittarians are the least likely to be involved in an accident.

The star sign is commonly associated with precision and tolerance, both great traits for avoiding an incident on the road.

"Some drivers will read more into this than others, but it's fair to say we were surprised how closely this year's claims and conviction statistics mirrored traditional star sign traits," said Richard Mason, director of insurance at moneysupermarket.

Although the research is light-hearted, it does touch on some important points concerning drivers' behaviour behind the wheel.

Remaining calm and focused while driving will help to reduce your chances of being involved in an accident.
