Car insurance - service and admin fees

Note that these fees can vary over time. Please check your yesinsurance.co.uk policy documentation to confirm the exact fees applicable to your policy.

Car Insurance Policy Amendment Fee

The fees cover administration costs for changes to car insurance policies; for example, the production and despatch of the new policy documentation, operator time etc.

The amendment fee is not charged for amending bank details or arranging alternative direct debit payment dates. Amendment fees are due on the date the amendment is set on the car insurance policy, even though the amendment itself may not be effective until a later date.

Car Insurance Policy Arrangement Fee

If a car insurance policy is cancelled within 14 days of receiving the policy documentation, an arrangement fee will be payable.

Arrangement fees are due immediately the cancellation of the car insurance policy becomes effective.

Car Insurance Policy Cancellation Fee

If a car insurance policy is cancelled prior to expiry, a cancellation fee will be payable, unless either:

  • The insurance policy cancellation takes place within 14 days of receiving the policy documentation, in which case an arrangement fee will be charged (see above): or
  • The agreement is cancelled because the car has been written-off in a claim (note that the full annual premium still has to be paid and any outstanding policy premium will still be due).

Cancellation fees are due immediately the cancellation of the car insurance policy becomes effective.

Resubmission of Payment Request Fee

The policyholder will incur a processing fee if the first deduction of any due premium is returned from the bank unpaid, and we need to attempt a second deduction.

Some of the reasons the bank may give mean that no second deduction is attempted, for example, if the account holder is deceased or if the account is closed.

The processing fee is deducted together with the second attempt of the premium deduction.

Car Insurance Policy Documentation Reprint Fee

The charge for the reprint covers the administration costs, including printing and postage. This fee as a rule is NOT refundable. Even if you later return the Certificate of Motor Insurance no refund would be given.

We may not charge a reprint fee if you are requesting a copy of a certificate that was printed less than 14 days ago or if a car insurance reprint fee has already been charged on that day.
